Summary
Seeking an Apprentice Engineer to join our established company. Working alongside experienced and qualified staff, you will learn aspects of Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance (Multi-skilled). Working under supervision you will work towards being responsible for the maintenance and performance of the site equipment.
What you'll do at work
- Completing changeovers to a production plan
- Plan and prepare for maintenance and repairs of engineered systems in the food industry
- Carrying out checks and maintenance as outlined within the PPM (Planned, Preventative Maintenance) scheme
- Involvement in multi-skilling (cross discipline) duties as appropriate
- Involvement in minor building and equipment repairs
- Understand and apply food safety principles to your role
- Carry out reasonable instructions from Lead Engineers or Senior Managers
- Ensure that all Health and Safety standards are maintained and that you always show due diligence
- Apply ‘best practice’ techniques
- Comply with all company policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, training & development, quality, disciplinary & grievance, and sickness & absence etc
- To carry out any other reasonable requests to meet the needs of the business - training to be provided
- The company and training provider will support you through your time of learning, offering support and guidance along the way
Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

- The Apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard (Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Pathway)
- Qualifications include Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence), and Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- The Apprentice will be working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Pathway.
- College attendance will be at Colchester Institute Campus and online
