California is experiencing a second wave, or a resurgence of the first one, and understandable concerns remain over the impact a further outbreak would have on any factory. There are still two months to go before the harvest gets under way and the weather and temperatures will be key. However, Covid is and remains the biggest threat to supply and demand both making projections of likely price trends difficult at best.
The big story over the past few weeks has been a large purchase of raw cashew seed from West Africa by a large Vietnamese consortium called Tan Long.
The concern is that if there is a second wave, workers will be unwilling, unable, or uninvited to cross the country if they are perceived to be a likely source of a spread of infection, then there may not be enough local workers in Western Turkey to collect the sultana crop.
