How did we get here?
RM Curtis & Co Ltd was founded in 1850 by Robert Mayne Curtis, operating his business out of premises in Rood Lane in the City of London – an area dominated by overseas merchants and traders.
The business was originally involved in the Herbs and Spice trade, importing from all main growing and processing countries from around the world.
His son (also Robert Mayne Curtis) continued in the family business until the early 20th century.
As far as we are aware the company has been continuously trading since its inception, and has always been involved food commodity importing.
The current business was acquired in 1981 initially supplying rice, herbs and spices, cereals, pulses, wheat based products and pasta. to the wholesale foodservice and cash & carry sector.

Recent history / the new millennium:
A management restructure in 2001/2 saw the arrival of the current MD. Under his management and direction with substantial internal investment in plant and machinery, technical and quality processes, the business has enjoyed significant growth particularly in the industrial / bulk sector, supplying leading UK food manufacturing companies.
We continue to trade in cereals, pulses and herbs and spices with a particular focus on dried fruit and culinary nut products and have been growing our share in the retail market place, both with major retailers, retail cash and carries, discounters and high street retailers.
